Your first name, last name and email address are kept private. The public leaderboard displays only your Hero name, or your first name if you do not choose a Hero name. If you join as a Corporate Hero or Team Hero, your company name or team name will be displayed.

What's in it for me? Not only will you be a part of the solution to fix a huge, real-world problem, but you also become a Hero and can experience a sense of belonging in the Quest. Your name or Hero name will be displayed on the Hero Leaderboard for everyone to see along with your Badges and Green Points.
How much does it cost to play? Heroes join the Quest with a minimum contribution of $100. Every $100 contributed earns 1 Green Point.
How are contributions spent? MMQ allocates 70% of contributions toward verified methane mitigation projects, including the costs to identify, implement, verify and publicly report methane reductions. 70% — verified methane mitigation projects 25% — MMQ administration 5% — MMQ Giveback MMQ will publicly report how contributions are spent so Heroes can see where the money goes.
What is the 5% Giveback Model? MMQ sets aside 5% of contributions to give back to the community. The goal is to support a local initiative working to improve food security and access to fresh, locally grown food. The organization or project that will receive the Giveback has not yet been selected. MMQ will announce the recipient once that decision has been made.
How do I know my contribution made a difference? Every MMQ project is independently verified. Before any mitigation work begins, a qualified third-party methane measurement specialist measures the emissions at the project site to establish a baseline. After the work is completed, emissions are measured again to confirm the reduction. Results and costs are publicly reported so contributors can see exactly what was achieved. Most contributions are pooled to help fund verified methane reduction projects. When a Methane Monster is slain, you will be able to see the verified results and the Badge you earned for your efforts.
Is my contribution tax deductible? At this time, contributions to Methane Monster Quest are not tax deductible. MMQ is not a registered charity, and contributions do not qualify for charitable tax receipts. If the tax treatment of MMQ contributions changes in the future, MMQ will update this information. In the meantime, your contribution makes you a Hero. You receive public recognition on the Hero Leaderboard and Badges for projects you helped fund. You will see the progress you helped make toward solving a real-world problem through the publicly reported results of independently verified methane reductions.
What if I sign up to receive updates but don't contribute yet? Your name or Hero name and a Badge go on the Future Hero Leaderboard. You will be kept up to date with Quest progress by email.
